Pine Knot Golf and Country Club

Challenging and Inspiring (But Forgiving) Golf at Pine Knot

At the Pine Knot Golf and Country Club, you’ll find a course designed by John F. Robinson and Associates that presents a totally varied and inspiring golf experience. The course contains over 50 bunkers and water comes into play on 8 holes. In spite of these facts and the dauntingly narrow bluegrass fairways, the well maintained bluegrass / rye / fescue rough doesn’t penalize you for not-so-perfect shots allowing you can to shoot some pretty decent scores even when you don’t hit a fairway.

Tall fescue is used sparingly to outline and beautify certain holes, but is kept quite short in areas close to fairways and greens, making it easier to find your golf ball…as long as you avoid the many water hazards! Additionally, you’ll love the well-maintained, soft, and consistent bent grass greens that will make you look like a tour pro, as they are extremely receptive.

The course plays anywhere from 4900 to 6400 yards depending on the set of tees you choose with 4 par 5’s and 5 par 3’s. Every hole presents you with a challenging and visually rewarding experience, but at the same time, the course is fair. Unlike most golf courses, Pine Knot starts you off with 2 par-5’s which affords you the luxury of being able to shoot par in spite of making some errant shots. As a matter of fact, Brent Keating, the Director of Golf at Pine Knot, says that par is still attainable on the first hole even if 4 bad shots are hit! Now, that’s how to start off a round of golf considering that you may not be warmed up until you’ve played a few holes. Consider it a gift from Pine Knot!
